The Office of Creative Ministries has been a valuable mission resource center for churches, pastors and lay persons for close to 40 years.

In 1974 after graduating from St. Paul School of Theology, I was appointed to the La Saline Cooperative Parish in the Missouri West Annual Conference. One of the first things I did was call the Office of Creative Ministries. I asked Mel West, the Office of Creative Ministries Director, if he would come out to our parish and help us with the understanding of mission.

I still remember one of the things Mel did. On newsprint he drew a cross. He then labeled one beam of the cross "Human Need." The other beam he labeled "Our Ability to Respond." The point at which the two intersect, he then said, is God calling us into mission. Whenever our ability to respond intersects with a human need, then we have a direct call from God to be in mission as a congregation, or as a family, or as an individual.

That is our mission at the Office of Creative Ministries. We look and listen and do research on the human need that exists in Missouri and in our world. With your help and that of our Board, we find what resources we have to address the need. With you we respond to God's call to mission.

This website will give you a look at what we are doing together in mission. You will see how we are responding to God's call. The website will show you many ways that you can respond. We will be happy to assist.
